About The Course

Civil Engineering is the oldest branch of engineering which deals with the planning, designing, analysis and construction of buildings, roads, bridges, dams, airports, railways, harbor etc.

Civil Engineering comprises Environmental, Water Resource, Geotechnical, Transportation, Structural, Earthquake, Costal Engineering etc. Our vision is to produce highly competent Civil Engineers with a strong fundamental knowledge, professional skills and attitudes who can be entrusted by the society to lead a sustainable development of the world and enhanced quality of life.

Department

The Department has highly qualified and experienced faculty, skilled technical staff from the renowned Institutions. The Department has been always in the forefront in taking up R&D initiatives and Industrial Consultancy assignments.  In this regard, the Department of Civil Engineering recently established a Design Center in association with Lelogix Design Center to start certified courses on AutoCAD, STAADPRO & other Civil Engineering Softwares.

Key Features

The Department of Civil Engineering has state of art laboratories invested and treasured with highly advanced and modern instruments. The Department is equipped with various laboratories like Water & Wastewater Lab, Transportation Engineering Lab, Cement & Concrete Testing Lab, Geology Lab, Irrigation Engineering Lab, Soil Mechanics Lab, Structural Analysis Lab, Advanced Structural Design Lab, AutoCAD & Remote Sensing Lab, and Surveying & Advanced Surveying Lab.

Research Initiatives

The Department of Civil Engineering focuses not only on strong fundamental knowledge and class learning, but also on field knowledge to achieve a fine blend of academic and practical training. The Department helped the students to engage with the industries like DMRC, NTPC, L&T etc. for their minor and major projects. In addition to that, the Department has also registered for EDUSAT, ISRO for online learning. The Department has a great futuristic vision to establish itself as a centre for excellence in quality education and research.

Major Events & Achievements

The Department of Civil Engineering organized National Conference, Workshop, Seminar, Short Term Training Programmes and value added courses which is an essential part of valued based learning. During the session 2015-2016, the Department organized 2 days Certified Workshop on Tall Building Design by Civil Simplified (Civil Simplified is a brain child of IIT Kanpur Alumni). An Industrial Visit was also arranged for the students on the construction site of DMRC, New Delhi and the construction site of a hospital in Greater Noida. The Department also organized special talks and lectures by renowned experts from various fields. In this regards, the Department organized a special lecture on ‘geology of rocks’ by Dr. Amitansu patnaik, Sr. Scientist, DRDO. Our students actively participated in various fests and technical programs in other Institutions. One of our students, Mr. Harshit Agrawal, 2nd Year, is University topper since 1st Semester of B. Tech.
