Brief Description of the Activity:
The Department of Management in association with the Entrepreneurship cell organized a two day workshop on “Entrepreneurship Awareness”by NIESBUD, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with HUL on 30th November 2023 and 01st December 2023.  The program commenced with an auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony by the dignitaries. The program aimed at empowering students by creating awareness and a specialized knowledge of Entrepreneurship. The resource person, Mr. Sunil Taneja, Sr. Consultant and Admin Officer, NIESBUD discussed various significant aspects of Entrepreneurship with the students and emphasised on entrepreneurial skills required to venture into any entrepreneurial career option.The students of various programs from BTech, BHMT, BCA and Management attended the workshop.  The Workshop was organized by CA Prof(Dr.) Anupama Sharma, HOD Management. The faculty of the Department of Management and  Department of Hotel Management (BHMT) were also present at the event.

The program objective was to equip students with the knowledge and information regarding the fundamentals of Entrepreneurship and give them a direction while choosing it as a career option.  The speaker Mr. Sunil Taneja, explained the difference between Business and entrepreneurship. He also apprised them of various traits and skills and their significance, needed for it. The speaker explained the meaning of a business venture and the advantages of choosing it as a  lifelong decision and how a new entrepreneur can seek help from organizations like NIESBUD. The speaker guided and directed students to become job providers rather than job seekers. The first day of the workshop concluded with the felicitation of Mr Sunil Taneja with memento.

The speaker on the second day, 1st December 2023 was Mr Sumit Kumar from NIESBUD, deliberated on various schemes of the government for new entrepreneurs. Various aspects regarding financing, marketing, procurement of materials, training on skills required for new ventures were also explained by the expert speaker which is most significant information for the students. He also emphasised on the advantage of certification training from NIESBUD in availing such schemes.

The students very enthusiastically participated in the program on both the days and got valuable insights related to Entrepreneurship as a career prospect. At the end the questions and queries by the students were satisfactorily answered by the expert speakers by sharing real-life examples and insights about Entrepreneurship.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participants and felicitation of the expert speaker with memento.

All the students of the Department of Management, MBA, BBA, BCom(H), along with final year students of BTech, BCA and BHMT attended the workshop, being around 160 in number.

The two-hour event happened on October 26, 2023. Firstly, Arman Mansury concluded his segment by summarizing the uses of LinkedIn in the workplace and providing tips on how to maintain an updated profile and boost your chances of getting selected for further consideration by carefully utilizing hashtags and keywords. He offered us tips on how to keep the profile description neat, including what to include and what not to put. Here’s Sandesh Verma’s segment after that. He made a contribution by detailing GitHub use cases for open-source contributions and offering guidance on using Git Bash to manage Git accounts. He covered a number of methods, such as how to generate pull requests, fork, clone, and create repositories. and presented a functional repository example while completing all of the previously mentioned tasks on the repository.

First, Arman Mansury finished his section by outlining the applications of LinkedIn in the workplace and offering advice on how to keep your profile updated and increase your chances of being shortlisted by using hashtags and keywords strategically. He gave us advice on what should and shouldn’t be included in the profile description to keep it tidy. Following that, here is Sandesh Verma’s portion. Brief Description of the Activity:
The Department of Management organized a certification Workshop “KKS – Kona Kona Shiksha,” Financial Literacy for Young Citizen by Kotak Securities in association with NISM, under the Management Students Society on 3rd & 4th October 2023. The program aimed at empowering students through a specialized certification program. The resource person was Mr Chandresh Gupta, a certified NISM trainer who discussed various significant aspects of the program.

The program objective was to equip students with essential financial knowledge and skills, enabling them to make informed decisions and take control of their financial well-being. The workshop had a well-structured curriculum covering topics such as budgeting, savings, investments, loans, credit management, and more. The content was curated by industry experts and catered to the needs of today’s dynamic financial landscape. The speaker Mr Chandresh Gupta also deliberated on the career prospects in banking and finance industry and the significance of NISM certification courses.

The students very enthusiastically participated in the program and got valuable insights related to financial literacy and career prospects.

The participants received a prestigious certificate jointly issued by NiSM and Kotak. This certification will not only validate their acquired knowledge but also enhance their profiles for future endeavors.

Dr. Ashish Payal, Associate Professor at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, USICT, GGSIPU, Delhi delivered this webinar. He is an eminent researcher and a profound academician.

During the webinar, Dr. Payal enlightened the faculty and students with her great knowledge and experience in the field of IOD. He covered the essential criteria of security, privacy, and communication in his lecture and presented a taxonomy of IoD based on the most pertinent factors. He also spoke about the difficulties and potential avenues for IoD research.

Research Lecture on Corbusier’s Chandigarh: a quest for modernity(Case Analysis)

Department of Architecture, DTC organised a Research Lecture on ‘Corbusier’s Chandigarh:a quest for modernity(Case Analysis)’ by Ar. Deepika Gandhi on 21 March 2023, 11am onwards at Chandigarh College of Architecture as a part of Educational trip for 4th year students. The focus of this lecture was to make the students familiarise about the Chandigarh city by exploring & revisiting many of Le Corbusier’s ideas in present case scenario. This lecture gave more clarity and broaden their horizons while exploring the prospect of urban development of Chandigarh city.

Deepika Gandhi, a faculty member of the Chandigarh College of Architecture since 2002, is presently the Director, Le Corbusier Centre and Chandigarh Architecture Museum. She worked on the preparation of the Dossier for the ‘World Heritage’ nomination of the Capitol Complex, Chandigarh and is actively engaged in promoting its heritage. She supervised the restoration of the erstwhile house of Pierre Jeanneret, to establish a Jeanneret Museum there and also undertook restoration of the Le Corbusier Centre for further expansion. She has co-authored the book Le Corbusier Rediscovered: Chandigarh and beyond.

The event commenced with the host giving an introduction of the speaker, Ar. Deepika Gandhi. This was followed by an enlightening lecture that sparked several interesting discussions between the speaker and the students. Department of Architecture, DTC is organized a Research Lecture on ‘Research Methodology adopted in the field Architecture, Planning, Preservation and urban Development-Case study of Chandigarh City’  by Ar. Surinder Bagha on 20th March 2023, 7:00pm onwards at Hotel Diamond, Chandigarh as a part of Educational trip for 4th year students. The focus of this lecture was to make the students familiarise about the evolution of Chandigarh city – India’s first planned city. This lecture gave more awareness to the students towards understanding different urban design layers through which a city can be read and documented.

Architect Surinder Bahga founder Saakaar Foundation” in Chandigarh in 1984. Ar. Bahga was given Sir M. Visveswaraya Award in 1995 by HUDCO for energy-efficient housing design. His Baptist Church at Chandigarh is selected by Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources and TERI as one of the best 41 energy-efficient buildings in India. Awarded with Michael Ventris Award from Architectural Association, London. He has co-authored three books namely “New Indian Homes” and “Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret” Chairman of IIA, Chandigarh-Punjab Chapter for two terms (2008-2012). Chairman of IIA Publication Board and Editor of Journal of Indian Institute of Architects from January 2013 to May, 2015. Councillor in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation for the term 2012-16. Chairman of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation’s Committee for “Buildings & Roads”. member of Advisory Committee of India’s Home Minister on Union Territories. Head of Chandigarh Sub-Chapter of FSAI and Chairman of GEM Chandigarh Chapter.
