The Grievance Redressal Committee shall consider all grievances submitted in writing or online by an individual member of the Centre regarding employment/ association, working conditions, and any other alleged injustice done to an employee/ student while discharging his/her duties at the Centre. Roles and Responsibilities

  1. The committee would strive to create a healthy on-campus atmosphere where the stakeholders i.e., faculty, staff, and students, could work collectively without inter or intra conflicts. An aggrieved individual can approach the committee to redress his/her grievances properly.
  2. To provide an avenue for the aggrieved students to redress their grievances to have a healthy atmosphere among students, staff, and management in the Institute.
  3. To uphold the dignity of the Institute by ensuring strife free atmosphere in the College through the promotion of cordial Student-Student relationships and Student-teacher relationship
  4. To provide responsive, accountable, and easily accessible machinery for settlement of grievances and to take measures in the college undertakings to ensure expeditious settlement of grievances of Students to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the institute.
  5. To encourage the students to express their grievances/problems freely and frankly, without fearing being victimized.

A sample copy of the grievance received is shown in Figure B.10.1.3a, and the action taken for the mentioned grievance is shown in Figure B.10.1.3b through meeting minutes.

The Anti-Ragging Committee takes care that ragging is completely prohibited on campus. Anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting, whether actively or passively or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished under UGC Regulations 2009 and the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force.

Aims & Objectives:

  1. The committee will decide and finalize Anti Ragging Regulations for the institution under the prevailing regulations of various statutory bodies.
  2. To ensure submission of undertaking in the prescribed format from the candidate concerned on anti-ragging at the time of admission.
  3. To suggest measures to tighten vigil against any act which constitutes ragging.
  4. To prevent ragging, freshers, senior students, and every institute staff are made aware of the measures.
  5. To ensure that the actions to be taken are as per the guidelines of the relevant regulations of the regulatory bodies
  6. Timely circulation of action taken report to the concerned authorities against Anti-Ragging in the institute.

If any student is caught doing so or exploiting any fresher in any form, the following action will be taken.

  • They will be suspended from attending classes.
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or another evaluation process

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. To devise a mechanism for receiving, processing, and addressing all information regarding the incidence of ragging.
  2. To advise the Disciplinary Committee and subcommittee on new policies or directives on handling cases of ragging (as applicable) occasionally.
  3. To timely address the grievances of stakeholders
  4. To sensitize faculty and staff members towards cases of ragging.
  5. Seek advice from experts to handle complicated grievance cases related to ragging apart from advice by other committees (s)/ sub-committee(s) if the need arises.
  6. To compile/ submit biannual basis, the grievance summary report (on cases related to ragging), if any, along with recommendations.
  7. To maintain all records, statements, actions, and other correspondences related to ragging cases.

The definition of sexual harassment in the law includes many actions often brushed off as harmless or trivial. If there is unwanted conduct with sexual undertones, it can be classified as sexual harassment. Any unwelcome physical/verbal/non-verbal conduct of sexual nature, demands/requests of sexual favours, sexually coloured remarks, physical contact/advances, or showing pornography is considered sexual harassment.

In compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and provisions of Act No 14 of 2013 and the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (Act No. 3 of 1956), DTC has constituted an internal complaint committee (here-in-after referred to as ICC).

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. The ICC will enquire and look after the complaints of sexual harassment received from any student or faculty member underUGC (Prevention, Prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women employees and students in higher educational institutes) Regulations, 2015
  2. The student members of the ICC will participate in the proceedings of the ICC only if the complaint is received against another student of the college.
  3. Whenever the committee receives a complaint, the ICC will send its copy to the person against whom the complaint is made within seven days. The respondent against whom the complaint is filed will be required to file his/her reply along with details of witnesses of his defense within 10 days. The entire inquiry process will be completed within 90 days of receiving the complaint.
  4. The College ICC will have jurisdiction over the complaints relating to college premises. However, if the act of sexual harassment takes place outside the college, during a college/university event, or any other place where a person is participating in the capacity of an employee or student, it will be covered by the ICC of the college. ICC will conduct inquiries into sexual harassment complaints from students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff
  5. If any complainant decides to approach the director of the college or any faculty member, the complaint so filed shall be forwarded to the ICC same day without unnecessary delay
  6. The ICC will take cognizance of a complaint if made within three months or three months of the last incident in a series of incidents. The time limit can be extended by another three months if the committee is satisfied that circumstances prevented the person from filing a complaint.
  7. During the pendency of the inquiry, ICC can recommend a transfer of the complainant or respondent to different departments to mitigate the situation. If a student files a complaint against a teacher, the respondent can be restrained from evaluating the complainant’s work/tests/examination papers.
  8. An inquiry report with observations and recommendations, if any, will be sent to the executive authority, i.e., the Director of the college and both parties, within 10 days of the completion of the inquiry.
  9. The executive authority, i.e., the Director of the college, will take necessary action, as deemed fit, within 30 days of the submission of the report by ICC unless an appeal against the finding is filed within that time by either party.

Working  

  1. ICC of the college has maintained a complaint register in which all the complaints of sexual harassment shall be entered. The complaints shall be serially numbered, year-wise, in this register.
  2. The complainant and the person against whom the complaint is made can bring witnesses and produce evidence. The inquiry committee will ask the complainant to testify and provide evidence such as phone calls, logs, texts, etc.
  3. But since sexual harassment usually occurs without witnesses, it does not have to be proved beyond doubt to be able to charge the perpetrator/respondent.
