DELHI TECHNICAL CAMPUS, GREATER NOIDA

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT (STP) VISIT AT NOIDA, SECTOR 54 ON 08.10.18

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a Sewage Treatment Plant visit at Noida, Sector 54, on 8th October 2018 for 3rd and 4th year students. The students were divided into 2 batches. Mr. V. K. Aggarwal (General Manager) and Mr. Sanjeev Tyagi (Plant Incharge) gave a briefing about the functioning and other various aspects of STP through models and presentation, to the students respectively. The students were taken for the visit also accompanied by Mr. Suneel, Contractor, STP.

The STP is being managed by HNB Engineers Pvt. Ltd. and the design has been recommended by M/s WAPCOS limited (A Government of India Undertaking).

The 33 MLD and  54 MLD plant, based on the automated Sequential Batch Reactor technology (SBR), has been built at a cost of around Rs 38 crore to treat additional waste water that the city is expected to generate in the coming few years with its increasing population. Due to the advanced SBR technology, the plant helps in bringing down the BOD levels, a common measure of pollutants in water. The whole process is fully automatic and with world class equipments.

The plants were built using the Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) technology but then Noida Authority upgraded it to the SBR technology to produce better quality of water and make it usable for several other purposes besides irrigation.

The STP Visit was very beneficial to the students and the Department looks forward to many more endeavors.
