PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND FORMULATION

A Faculty Development Programme was conducted on December 20, 2014 by the Sunshine Educational and Developmental Society in collaboration with 1-On-1 Team. There were faculties from Delhi Technical Campus and Delhi Metropolitan Education.The title of the FDP was “RESEARCH METHODOLOGY-PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND FORMULATION”. The Faculty Coordinator for this was Prof.Ramani Swarna.
The resource person for the FDP was Dr.Arun Mittal from Birla Institute Of Technology, Noida.Dr. Arun Mittal (MBA, M.Phil, PGDRM, Ph.D) is an Assistant Professor at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra Ranchi, (Deemed Univeristy), Noida Campus. He has around 5 years of experience of teaching General Management, MARKETING and Retailing subjects to graduate and post graduate students. His areas of interest are Management Principles and Practices, Strategic Management, Business Law, Entrepreneurship Development, International Business, Managerial Economics and the subjects of MARKETING Area. He has published about 15 research papers and articles in the journals of repute and presented papers in 25 conferences and seminars on various management topics. He has also coordinated 2 faculty development programmes on Research Methodology and a two-week faculty development programme on Entrepreneurship Development sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, (Ministry of Science and Technology), Government of India.
A successful academician, Dr. Arun Mittal also has significant contribution in the field of Hindi literature. He writes his poems and other compositions in Hindi with the pen name Adbhut. Though he mainly belongs to the field of commerce and management but still has a great command over the grammar of Poetry and Ghajal. His main stream of writing is patriotic poems. However he has also contributed in many other streams of Hindi literature like stories, short stories, articles and research papers. More than 300 of his poems and stories have been published in newspapers and magazines. He is also a popular face among Hindi poets on Internet and YouTube. Dr. Adbhut has been honored by many social and literary organizations including AgrawalSabha (R), CharkhiDadri, ManavKalyanSangh, CharkhiDadri and Lions Club Bhiwani. In the year 2009, he has been honored with state level Rajesh ChetanKavyaPuraskaar by Sanskrit Manch, Bhiwani (Haryana).
He has published two books: “ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT:TEXT& CASES” and “INTERNATIONAL RETAILING:TEXT & READINGS”.
The FDP was conducted in the Seminar hall of the Institute.The 1-On-1 Team members invited the guest and introduced him to the Senior Management members and Prof.Chattar Singh Kanwar,Directorof DME honored him at the Institute. The Welcome Address was given by.Mrs.Sanober Khan.
Following topics were introduced and covered during the programme:
a) How to identify the problem for the research?
b) What is the relevance Tree?How does it help in the problem identification?
c) How to choose the keywords?
d) How is one supposed to formulate the problemwhile conducting the research?
e) What are the various ways to collect the data?
